See that face right there? That’s me – Hayden Tay. Here’s a little bit about me – hopefully you can get a glimpse of what I’m like! The three words my friends usually describe me with are “passionate”, “sociable”, “ambitious”. If you believe in psychological measures, my MBTI type is ENTJ and my Personality Dimensions type is a blend of Orange/Green.
About Me
I live in Canada, specifically Toronto, the largest city in Canada. Before Toronto, I used to live in Kitchener-Waterloo. My hometown is Singapore and Malaysia – I took a leap and moved to Canada (on my own!) at the age of 16.
I graduated from the University of Waterloo, where I somehow decided to graduate with what must be one of the longest degree titles ever. According to the piece of paper they awarded me at graduation, I possess a “Bachelors of Science – Honours Psychology – Human Resources Management Specialization – Biology Minor – Co-operative Program”. My top 3 favourite courses in university were Social Justice, Intercultural Communication, and the Psychology of Negotiations.
I am a technology geek, a social media addict, a workaholic, a volunteer, a learner, a talker, a listener, a mentor… (and the list goes on)
I work at a digital communications agency downtown Toronto. I like telling people I get to play on the internet, Facebook and Twitter all day. While that might be somewhat true, I spend a lot of my days doing event planning and analytics.
Passions
I have a few things I like to call my passions. These are the main topics that I blog about.
- Social Media - I am fascinated by how social media has changed our world, transcending the digital space and affecting how we interact with each other in real life.
- Community – I believe that people belong to various communities innately and by choice, and that improving our quality of living involves improving the state of our communities.
- Social Justice - Related to the above point, I am deeply passionate about issues that involve the underprivileged and relationships of power between groups of people. Specifically, I am interested in systemic differences in power.
